Hadith Studies

A Structured Study of the Prophetic Tradition

Our Hadith Studies program offers a systematic and traditional approach to the sciences of Hadith, rooted in classical scholarship and transmitted methodologies.

This pathway is designed for serious students seeking a disciplined and text-based engagement with the Prophetic tradition.

Foundations of Hadith Sciences

Students are introduced to:

  • The definition and structure of Hadith

  • Categories of authenticity (Sahih, Hasan, Da‘if)

  • Principles of transmission (Isnad methodology)

  • Biographical evaluation of narrators (‘Ilm al-Rijal)

  • Technical terminology of Hadith sciences

The program follows classical manuals traditionally studied in Mauritanian scholarly circles, preserving both rigor and depth.

Textual Study (Dirayah & Riwayah)

Students engage in guided reading of foundational collections, focusing on:

  • Understanding chains of transmission

  • Contextual interpretation of narrations

  • Legal implications of Hadith

  • Harmonization between narrations

Emphasis is placed on disciplined reading under supervision rather than isolated self-study.

Methodology of Teaching

Instruction follows the traditional Mauritanian model:

  • Text-based instruction (Dars al-Matn)

  • Memorization where appropriate

  • Analytical commentary

  • Oral explanation and structured discussion

  • Progressive levels from beginner to advanced

This methodology ensures both intellectual precision and spiritual formation.
